School History

Nekry International School
Nekry International School commenced 8th August 2015 with accreditation from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports in Cambodia. Our first campus is in Takeo Provincial Town, Takeo Province, Cambodia. We named the school after our mother’s name Keo Pola Nekry for profound love, honor and gratitude we have for her. She was the best mother in the world and a primary school teacher who had devoted her life time to take care and to educate us and children.

Core Objectives
Sense of Community
Relationships and collaboration are all important at Nekry International School. Our community is built on a three-way bond between students, parents and school, and at the heart of our community is the relationship between teachers and students.
Learning
Learning is life-long and at Nekry International School we encourage students to be leaders of their own learning, developing self-discipline, confidence and character to take the initiative in a friendly, supportive learning environment so that they will be leaders of the future. We aim to create a learning community where both staff and students are part of the learning journey.
Equity and Social Justice
Our community affirms the right of each student to achieve their potential in all areas of development, embracing diversity in all its forms, raising awareness of, and working for, equity and social justice.
Acceptance, Care and Compassion
We value an education consistent with our faith, accepting of difference, considerate and respectful of others, supportive, inclusive, with empathy for those in need and a willingness to serve, whilst nurturing the individual.
Why Nekry?
We believe that a happy child learns best. Nekry is committed to developing well rounded, happy, young men and women in body, mind and spirit. We are committed to continuing to develop a dynamic, caring, learning community in which each child is encouraged to achieve to the best of his or her ability. We believe that we should prepare students for adulthood by enabling them to face life directly in ways that demand courage, generosity, imagination, kindness, integrity and principles.
Small Classes
Small classes enable students to be treated as individuals and to be given individual attention. Nekry has small class sizes across all stages of schooling.
Small classes in the primary school enable the strong focus on core literacy and numeracy skills to have the optimum effect.
In the secondary school, small classes enable individual attention to students as they further develop their analytical thinking and reasoning skills. They combine with a breadth of subject choices, enable students to develop their skills through regular feedback during class and with coursework be thoroughly prepared for examinations.
The Nekry Students
Nekry International School encourages students to strive for excellence in all that they do and have the courage to reach beyond their limits. Our students are well rounded individuals, resilient in the face of challenge, self-assured through a belief in self, with respect for others and acceptance of difference.
Borne out of a strong sense of community, they are caring and compassionate, not afraid to take initiative and ably equipped with the skills to do so.
Environment and Hygiene
Nekry International School is committed to a sustainable environment and hygiene as such reducing our impact on it. We are determined to practise waste wise initiatives, promote energy efficiency and reduce water usage, as well as educate individuals within our community to make a personal commitment to reduce their impact on the environment. The School also continue to work with the students, families and the community in practical and supportive ways to promote hygiene.
